Preaching & Teaching Masterclass

Preach Better Sermons Without Reinventing Your Process Every Week

You don't need more random preaching tips.

You need a process that helps you move from an open Bible, scattered notes, and dozens of possible directions to a sermon you are actually ready to preach.

The Preaching & Teaching Masterclass is a practical, 9-session training designed to help pastors, teachers, and ministry leaders prepare better, build stronger sermons, communicate more effectively, and continue growing every time they speak.

9 On-Demand Sessions + Complete Sermon Toolkit

Purchase and course access are provided through Stan.

Created by Evan Doyle

Pastor, preacher, and ministry leader for 18 years

I developed this framework through years of preparing and preaching hundreds of sermons, teaching in different ministry settings, and helping other pastors and communicators make their messages clearer and easier to follow.

My approach to preaching is simple: clarity matters because people can’t respond to a message they don’t understand. The goal isn’t to sound like someone else or deliver a perfect sermon. It’s to faithfully communicate what God has given you to say in a way people can understand, remember, and respond to.

Sunday Isn't Usually the Problem

Sunday Isn't Usually the Problem. The Week Leading Up to Sunday Is.

You know Sunday is coming.

You have a passage.

You may already have pages of notes.

But somewhere between studying the text and standing in front of people, sermon preparation can get messy.

  • You find another idea you want to include.
  • Another verse feels important.
  • You aren't sure whether Point 2 actually belongs.
  • Your introduction isn't working.
  • You have three illustrations and don't know which one to use.
  • The message keeps getting longer, but somehow it isn't getting better.
The Question You Eventually Ask

What am I actually trying to say?

A better sermon-preparation process doesn't remove the work.

It helps you know what work matters next.

It gives you a way to decide what belongs, what doesn't, where the message is going, and how you can communicate it effectively.

Better sermons start long before you step onto the platform.

Better Sermons Start With a Better Process

Stop Starting From Zero Every Week

The goal of the Masterclass isn't to give you one sermon formula you have to follow forever.

It's to give you a repeatable process you can return to every time you prepare to speak.

Instead of trying to solve every part of the sermon at once, you'll learn how to move through the preparation process intentionally.

01

Listen

Pay attention to what may already be stirring before you start trying to manufacture a message.

02

Study

Understand the text, its context, and the truth you are preparing to communicate.

03

Clarify

Determine what this sermon is really about and identify the Big Idea holding the message together.

04

Structure

Organize the message in a way people can follow without forcing every sermon into the same format.

05

Build

Develop Scripture, explanation, stories, illustrations, application, and transitions around the central message.

06

Practice

Internalize the message, work through difficult transitions, and prepare to communicate it naturally.

07

Preach

Walk into the message knowing where you're going and why it matters.

08

Reflect

Learn from what happened so you don't simply preach, forget about it, and start over again next week.

The goal isn't to make every sermon identical. It's to stop starting from zero every week.

Know What You're Actually Trying to Say

The Best Sermons Know What They're Trying to Say

You can have good theology.

You can have pages of research.

You can quote great commentators.

You can tell an unforgettable story.

And you can still leave people wondering:

What was that sermon actually about?

That's why one of the foundational ideas in the Masterclass is learning to identify the Big Idea.

The Big Idea is the central truth holding the message together.

One simple framework I teach is:

Subject

What am I talking about?

+
Complement

What am I saying about it?

=
Big Idea

The central truth holding the message together.

Once you can state the message clearly, the Big Idea becomes a filter.

Does this point belong?
Does this story help?
Do I need this additional Scripture?
Is this illustration strengthening the sermon or distracting from it?
Is this interesting thought actually part of this message?
Better sermons aren't usually the result of finding more things to say.

They're often the result of learning what needs to be said and having the discipline to leave the rest out.
What You'll Learn

Build Better Sermons From Beginning to End

The Preaching & Teaching Masterclass goes well beyond creating three sermon points.

You'll learn how to work through the entire process of preparing and communicating a message.

01

Find the Message Before You Build the Sermon

Move from study, ideas, questions, and observations to one central Big Idea that gives the sermon direction.

02

Build a Sermon People Can Follow

Use practical structures to organize your message without forcing every sermon into the same formula.

03

Know What to Keep and What to Cut

Learn to recognize the difference between something that is interesting and something your sermon actually needs.

04

Use Stories and Illustrations With Purpose

Choose stories that help people understand and feel the truth instead of simply giving them an entertaining break from the sermon.

05

Connect Biblical Truth to Real Life

Move beyond explaining what the text says and help people understand why it matters to their everyday lives.

06

Prepare With Your Audience in Mind

Think about the real people who will hear the message, their questions, experiences, struggles, assumptions, and needs.

07

Find Your Own Preaching Voice

Learn from gifted communicators without slowly becoming an imitation of them.

08

Deliver Without Turning Preaching Into a Performance

Practice and internalize the message so you can be present with the people you're speaking to instead of simply trying to remember your next sentence.

09

Keep Becoming a Better Communicator

Reflect on what worked, what didn't, what felt confusing, and what you can improve the next time you preach.

Built From Experience, Not Just Theory

This Is the Process I Wish I Had Much Earlier

I served as a pastor for 18 years and preached hundreds of messages along the way.

And one of the things I learned is that sermon preparation becomes much harder when you don't have a process.

Especially early on, it was easy to try to solve everything at once.

Study the passage.
Write the sermon.
Find illustrations.
Build the points.
Research another verse.
Rewrite the introduction.
Figure out the ending.
Add another thought.
Delete half of it.
Put some of it back.

Eventually, I began developing a more intentional way of working through the message.

Not because preaching should become mechanical.

And not because every sermon should look the same.

But because a process gives creativity somewhere to go.

It helps you spend less energy wondering what to do next and more energy thinking about the message itself.

The Preaching & Teaching Masterclass brings together the principles, frameworks, mistakes, lessons, and practices I learned through years of actually preparing and preaching sermons.

You don't need someone else's sermon. You need a better process for preparing yours.

This Isn't About Sounding More Like a Preacher

Better Preaching Doesn't Mean Becoming Someone Else

The Imitation Trap

Their phrasing.

Their rhythm.

Their humor.

Their intensity.

Their stories.

One of the easiest traps in preaching is imitation.

You listen to a communicator you respect.

You notice the way they phrase things.

Their rhythm.

Their humor.

Their intensity.

Their stories.

And eventually you can start trying to sound like them.

Learning from other communicators is valuable.

Becoming a copy of one isn't.

The goal of the Masterclass is not to teach you how a preacher is supposed to sound.

It's to help you become more effective at communicating in the voice you already have.

Your personality doesn't need to get bigger.

Your vocabulary doesn't need to become more impressive.

You don't need to manufacture intensity.

You need to understand your message deeply enough that you can communicate it naturally, intentionally, and effectively.

Great video, you kept it simple but effective, praise God! Thank you, it was enough to help approach my next teaching but not too much that would complicate it.

Thank you for sharing this. I was on the right track but needed input since I couldn’t find anyone to read and critique my sermon. I’ll be using your suggestions for a while—they’re so straightforward. Bless God for your spirit that exudes from this video.

What This Masterclass Is Not

No Gimmicks. No Formula That Every Sermon Has to Follow.

This Is Not
A seminary replacement.
An advanced course in biblical languages.
A comprehensive theology course.
A replacement for years of studying Scripture, praying, preaching, receiving feedback, and growing.
A formula that says every sermon needs three points.

This is not a seminary replacement.

It is not an advanced course in biblical languages.

It is not a comprehensive theology course.

And it does not pretend that nine videos can replace years of studying Scripture, praying, preaching, receiving feedback, and growing.

It is also not a formula that says every sermon needs three points.

The Masterclass assumes that faithful biblical study matters.

Its focus is more specific:

The Question

How do you take what you've studied and turn it into a better sermon?

How do you identify the message?
How do you structure it?
How do you decide what belongs?
How do you use stories?
How do you think about your audience?
How do you practice?
How do you communicate naturally?
How do you evaluate what happened afterward?

That is the work we're going to do.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Preaching & Teaching Masterclass only for pastors?

The Masterclass is designed for pastors, ministry leaders, Bible teachers, and others who regularly prepare biblical messages or teachings. You don’t need to be a senior pastor or preach every Sunday to use the process.

Is this course for new or experienced preachers?

Both can benefit, but in different ways. A newer preacher can use the frameworks to develop a preparation process from the beginning. A more experienced preacher may use them to simplify, evaluate, or strengthen habits that have developed over time.

Does the Masterclass teach the three-point sermon method?

Yes. The three-point sermon is one practical structure covered in the training, but it is not presented as the only way to preach. You’ll also learn how to think about structure more broadly so the framework serves the message rather than forcing the message into a formula.

What is included with Evan's Preaching and Teaching Masterclass course?

You’ll receive 9 on-demand Masterclass sessions along with the complete Sermon Toolkit, which includes reusable frameworks and worksheets for sermon preparation.

Do I have to complete the course on a certain schedule?

The sessions are on demand, so you can work through the material at your own pace.

Is the Sermon Toolkit only for use during the course?

No. The tools are designed to be reused as you prepare future sermons and teachings.

Where do I purchase the course?

When you click any of the purchase buttons on this page, you’ll be taken to the Masterclass page on Evan’s Stan Store, where the purchase and course access are handled.

One Final Thought

You Don't Need to Become Someone Else to Become a Better Preacher.

You don't need a bigger personality.

You don't need a more impressive vocabulary.

You don't need to imitate the preacher you admire.

And you don't need to cram everything you've learned into every sermon you preach.

You need to be able to answer a few important questions:
01

What am I actually trying to say?

02

Why does it matter?

03

What does this message need, and what doesn't it need?

04

How can I help people understand and respond?

05

How can I communicate this in a way that feels like me?

And then you need a process that helps you answer those questions again next week.

That's what the Preaching & Teaching Masterclass is designed to give you.

Not somebody else's sermon.

Not another rigid formula.
